Deep Water Wind Sites

Deeper water technologies
Deep water offshore wind has emerged as a technically and economically viable alternative to Cape Wind. Cape Wind has selected a site that has far too many costs and risks for the environment, the economy, and human safety. Deeper-water sites offer stronger winds and the benefits of renewable energy without sacrificing Nantucket Sound.

Why go further offshore?
There are a number of advantages to locating wind farms in deeper water, particularly off the west coast of the UK. Wind speeds tend to be higher and the wind steadier which means the turbines should consistently capture more energy and help to bring the costs down.
How deep can we go today?
Studies suggest we can go to depths up to 100 meters.
